Default Question about Canadian Exhibits

At a card show yesterday, I looked through a stack of Exhibit cards that was mostly the 1955 "Planes, Series 1" mixed with 1953 Canadian (baseball) Exhibits, almost entirely guys I'd never heard of. Among them, though, were a blue tint Tommy Lasorda #50 and a red-brown Walter Alston #61, both of which I bought.

Looking at the cards this morning, though, I noticed that the card stock is that gray color that I usually associate with fakes when I see 1939-66 Exhibits printed on it.

So, are these reprints/fakes, or were the Canadian Exhibits usually printed on the gray stock? Both cards are in very nice shape and slightly off-cut. Lasorda has a dark band at the bottom from the card below it on the sheet. Alston has a light band at the top from the card above it on the sheet.

Whoops. This might be a "never mind." I just did a Google search, and the PSA site says "The grey stock cards are numbered in the upper right corner." So these seem to be the real thing.

I believe the Canadian exhibits were different card stock than the "cream" colored ones

Default Canadian Exhibits

Hey Mark:

You are good to go on the grey backs. That is how they were issued.

#'1-32 are in green tint or purple tint with the green being MUCH RARER than the purple.

#'s 33-64 were in blue or brown tint and are much easier to find than the earlier numbers. Most of the high numbers are made up of Montreal players, but Alston, LaSorda, and Musial and Sisler are the most sought after in the high numbers.

Some of the green tints are really hard to find with Lowrey being among the most sought for some reason along with Williams, DiMaggio etc.
