I was thrilled to death to win this 1891 Joseph Hall cabinet of Amos Rusie this morning. Now I need to know more about this card. I'm familiar with the Joseph Hall team cabinets, but have never heard of any individual player cabinets. So my first question is whether any others are known? Is there a checklist somewhere? Also, this doesn't seem like a standard studio cabinet to me because the player's name is printed on front. This suggests to me that these cabinets may have been offered to sale to the public rather than just produced for the player and his family. Is that right? Any information about this card or others like it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Individual player cabinets exist and are popular. Many likely were sold commercially.

Here is some info from the Bob Lemke archives on the oval ones that I have seen at auction in the past.
http://www.boblemke.blogspot.com/201...1888-1889.html I would think the street clothes cabinets were more likely family photos.

Neat cabinet Paul !
Regarding the personalized mounts, this is common for some Studios such as Detroit's Tomlinson Studio. Their team photos as well as single player action shots and portraits were frequently mounted to personalized mounts such as follows.
