National Geographic magazines would make a good spot to store vintage cards, because people have a hard time throwing them away. Here is the September 1934 issue...the next one I come across I will buy it without examining, with the anticipation of a vintage card being between the covers.

Not quite as cool but I had a similar experience with a Life Magazine that had Mantle on the cover. I was getting ready to frame it and a 1964 Topps Giant Mickey Mantle fell out. Kind of beat up but still a huge thrill.
