Did anyone else miss out on that PSA 1 Goudey Ruth that went for $6200 on eBay today? I was initially upset about getting outbid but then I decided to get myself a Valentine’s Day gift with the funds I had earmarked for it - 41 DiMaggio, 56 Mantle, and a Lajoie with bat now headed my way. Silver linings! Ruth will have to wait.

I didn't see it but is that where 1s are now? So much for owning another nice one.

Such a weird feeling when you auction stuff off for great prices in November only to feel like an abject failure because of the prices they are going for 4 months later...

Just had to look that one up. Prices are out of control across the board. Hard to keep up. A yellow PSA 6 just went for 92k tonight.

Earlier today I looked back at a spreadsheet I started back in 2014 to track prices of cards I wanted. Looks like I could have bought a PSA 3 on eBay for $700 at that time. The jump in Ruth prices in insane.

Wow... I came late (ouch) to the Ruth party but decided to take the plunge about 3-4 months ago. I bought this one from a great Net54 local member and could not be happier to have Ruth now sitting front and center in my HOF collection.
I paid about $400 less than this PSA 1 that the OP is referencing - I thought FOR SURE I was buying Ruth at the peak cost and hoped my kids someday would just get back what I spent someday. Seems like that ceiling might not quite be hit just yet... (quick sidebar - any feedback on the grade of my card here? I know it has a weird pencil looking swoosh around the Babe's knees... think it may have been submitted as a no qualifier? Looks great to me, even with that mark) |
