I've recently gained a desire to want to acquire some Grover Cleveland Alexander pieces. I am from Syracuse, NY, and I like to collect players or pieces that have a local connection. Well, Old Pete played for my hometown Syracuse Stars in 1910. He won 29 games that season, and didn't allow a run in the final 52 innings he pitched. I've been looking at cards of his, there's not all that many to choose from, and they seem to be out of my price range. But anyway, I'd still love to see what others have! The 1922 E121-120 is still relatively affordable, the 1940 play ball even more so. I love the story of him striking out Lazzeri in the 1926 WS. One of the most undervalued players considering he is one of the greatest lifetime pitchers. Maybe it's because half his photos look like he is balancing a stove top jiffy pop popcorn bag on his head.

Here's the pose caught on this card when someone hollered out

Well, I don't have any of his cards. Just about everyone else, but not him. Really don't know why that is. I humbly offer this link to his biopic from 1952 instead, with Ronald Reagan as 'Ol Pete, and a whole raft of ballplayers:

D350-1, because chronological makes the most sense.

Thanks Jstottlemire1. I like the card alot.
Val, I mis-posted. I meant to say it is either a D350-1-1 or a D350-1-2, but got a a little too cute for my own good. You are right, chronologically, it makes sense to call it a D350-1, which came from 1916 and reflects this card's origin. I meant to point out that Standard Biscuit issued both the m101-4 and m101-5 sets, and Alexander is identical in each--even the card number--so it is impossible to say which set gave us this one. That's why the sets really require further delineation than given by the ACC, and I call them mD350-1-1 and D350-1-2 (at least when I'm paying attention).

Love all of these GC items! Happy to say that I just purchased my first GC Alexander card, W516-1, (hopefully it's authentic). Any opinions would be appreciated. Even though it's in extremely rough condition, I'll probably send to SGC, just go get slabbed. Thanks guys

Looks good to me...and you got the preferred (in my opinion) version of W516 where the team name is not reversed on the uniform.

Here's a card of Grover Cleveland "Old Pete" Alexander that hasn't yet been shown in this thread. And, it so happens that I currently have this card up for auction on eBay, along with a couple of other cards from this 1948 Topps set (shameless plug!).
