The recent surge in prices and collecting has me wondering if we'll start to see more shows pop up. Or, will it be a fad that comes and goes? I miss the late 80's and 90's when there were shows everywhere.

I went to a card show in Nashville today. Spent the cash I brought in less than 30 mins on 3 T206s and a few 1964 Topps Giants. Show had 40 dealers, 60 tables and there was actually a good bit of vintage. The guy I bought from also had some T3s and two T206s Cobbs for sale - asking $3500/each. Another table probably had 200 raw T206s, but prices were a bit high for the condition. I flipped through a binder of '33 Goudeys, but prices were unreasonably high in my opinion, so I passed on everything at his table.

As long as covid looms, it's going to be hard to have an increase in shows, IMO. Autograph guests doing public signings in shows may take even longer to return.

Can't speak for all dealers but I know that when I set up, I'm not exactly looking to sell everything I bring and I price out my stuff correspondingly (although some dealers, much like some eBay sellers, I truly wonder if they sell anything at the prices they're asking). But for the right price, anything is for sale. You happened to buy things that I had priced to sell. I don't really consider myself a dealer, any money I make goes back in to my collection. Overall it was a good show and it was fun to actually be at a card show after 6 months off. I sold some things and got a decent deal on a bat on Cobb (see t206 b/s/t). I just went to a show at Raleigh Fairgrounds yesterday - more folks than I've seen attend that show in quite some time. They switched the venue to a smaller building, too small for that many people given the circumstances, IMO. I pretty much walked in, realized it was futile to try and keep my distance, and walked out a short while later. I noticed several attendees and dealers with no masks or masks around their chin. Almost every table was shiny cards, with very little vintage, and I couldn't find a T206 anywhere.

At nearly 100,000 cases a day, I think i will stay with eBay and auctions for now.
