Hi-
I recently acquired a 1910 bound magazine (Worcester MA Sunday Magazine) because of the advertisements for Colgan's Chips. I do not know if this information helps anyone, but the first ads do not show baseball players. They do not show in this magazine until the June 26th issue. That issue shows Wagner in the advertisement. Wagner continues to be shown in all subsequent issues with the ad (different forms of the ad on different weeks) until October 23 1910. It then shows different players for a few weeks with Cobb in the last issue with the ad (November 27 1910). Please see the pictures below. Please feel free to post your own Colgan's cards or memorabilia. Alan |

Thanks for posting the info. There are a few passionate Colgan's collectors out there and these ads you posted could help them in their research. I used to have some other cool Colgan's items but now only an E270 and the tin it came in.

It's surprising they are still running the ad in the November 27th edition. That's pretty late to still be selling a product with a baseball themed insert. They must not have sold as quickly as they had hoped.

I only have the Jersey City examples on my want lists. I have three; Hanford, Merritt and Manser. Still need Abstein and Waller. Then I need the Tin Tops Jersey City players and the Red Border player. It will take a while to find all of them, but I'll get there some day. Here is the only one of mine that I have a scan of right now...

That's great Henry. Admittedly, I don't know much about printing, but I am surprised the stone isn't a negative (reverse) of the printed item like this lithography example. The stone is on the left, and the printed item on the right.
