I have a thousand dollars and want to buy a card(s) and have some in mind but would like to hear what you'd want. Would you want to put it all into one card or 2, 500.00 cards ?
What card(s) would you buy ? This is not an investment but of course no one wants to lose. Any you see holding or going up in the future ? Thanks. |

I would probably buy a mix of 12 to 15 mid-grade vintage cards at $50 to $80 a pop...

If I had to spend it all on one card, I'd get the best 1934 Goudey Lou Gehrig I could get for that price. This card and a Ruth from the prior year have topped my want list for about 40 years! To this day I don't have "real cards" of either player.
If I needed to split it across two cards, I would love to grab 1941 Play Balls of Ted Williams and Joe D to put side-by-side. And I gotta say I'd at least be tempted--since I'm not too picky about condition--to see how close I could get to a Topps/Bowman/Leaf/Play Ball/Fleer run of Ted Williams. (Of course I'd rather have $3K for this one.) Jason

Look at huge, timeless stars like Mickey Mantle, Jackie Robinson and Ted Williams and you will never go wrong.

As many 1987 Donruss Jim Lindeman cards as you can find. I hear he's going to be great!

Darren is right.
And I would spend the amount on one card, the best condition you can find. Iconic names and card will make for a desirable collectable, not only for you but others as well. 1956 Topps Mantle comes to mind, 1953 Topps Jackie Robinson, Playball Ted Williams. I am sure others will continue with thoughts and suggestions.
