I bought a Pulliam Tobacco label years ago like the one on your cover. Always have loved it and the bits of history about him. I do hope that I get a chance to read this book soon.

Why isn’t this man in the Hall of Fame?
This was a terrific read, really gave me a sense of turn of the 20th century baseball. Much of it’s documentary but it reads like a novel.
I didn’t know what to expect, but it exceeded expectations. My compliments to Mark, his research and his prose. If you’re a fan of baseball in its infancy, pick this one up.

Thanks, guys, for the kind words. The Hall of Fame? He had a rather short tenure as NL president, so that works against him. I believe his resume exceeds some of the non-players in the Hall, but unfortunately, a lot of that is political, and Harry Pulliam was not a self-promoter.
