What are their dimensions?
They look like 1909-1913 M101-2 Sporting News Supplements, which are 7 1/2" x 10", and 8 1/2" x 10". There was also a set of postcards issued in 1913, and which are catalogued as M101-3. Steve

Thanks, quite sure they are 1911 and 1912, thanks. Was able to match a couple to some pictures on-line based on this information. Excellent help!

I think Leon is right, which would make them worth about $0.19 each.

To the OP -- you still haven't said what the dimensions of these things are. You say they're definitely from 1911 or 1912, but how do you know that? You keep calling them "postcards" or "cards" or "inserts", which makes me think they are not real M101-2s, which are 8"x10" and on thin stock.

Those look like M101-2s, but if they're postcard sized that can't be it, since real M101-2s are around 8"x10" and on thin stock. I don't think Steve D's suggestion of M101-3 works either, because although those were postcards issued by The Sporting News, there were only six of them, and they were color tinted rather than sepia. The Old Cardboard site shows the Marquard from that set, which is different from the Marquard in your picture:
http://www.oldcardboard.com/pc/pc757...?cardsetID=963 TCMA issued a set of postcard reprints of M101-2s in 1974, but those are black and white rather than sepia, and they have a big white rectangle in the corner with the year, in place of the brown rectangle with "Supplement to the Sporting News" in it, and a white strip added at the bottom with a typewritten line of stats. |
