The back of "C-D" plate scratch sheet was used on two different sets of
fronts as two different subjects for each scratch confirms. A section of that sheet mirrors three positions of the Wagner strip. Here's the Wagner strip Wagner Strip.jpg Here's the section on the sheet that mirrors it Sheet%20C-D_1.jpg Kling, Young and Brown (Port) are in the same position as the Wagner strip CD-Partial - Copy.jpg here's the M.Brown (Port), Kling and Young (port) scratches Brown_Port_.jpg Kling_1.jpg Young Portrait.jpg The second subjects in the Pattee and Reulbach positions are not confirmed yet so it's possible that the matching scratch for Pattee could be Bowerman. There are only two PD150 Wagner's that I know of and neither has a plate scratch to confirm his position but he could have been in the Reulbach position and then replaced by another subject. Another interesting thing about this sheet is most of the 150 only subjects are all together in a horizontal row, they include Evers(Cubs), Doyle (Throwing), Donlin (Fielding) M.Brown (Cubs), Pattee, Reulbach, Burch, Ames, and Schulte who I consider a 150 only subject. The other 150 only subjects that don't have confirmed scratches on this sheet are Wagner, Magie (fixed name), G.Browne (team change) and Powers who is the only 150 only subject in the SC150/649 subset and he has confirmed scratches on another plate scratch sheet (the A-B sheet). Evers,Schulte,Stone,Donlin.jpg Brown (Cubs),Pelty,Pattee,Reulbach.jpg Burch,Ames.jpg It could be just a coincidence that the three subjects on the Wagner strip with confirmed scratches are in the same position on this sheet but I think it's interesting either way. I typed up a post a couple days ago, but I guess I didn't hit send or something. Anyway, I found this incredibly interesting. I have been wondering if we would ever figure out why the 150 Only guys who appear later in the set were pulled early. It makes perfect sense that it would have been based on convenience more than anything.
Great work Pat!

Great research Pat, as always...Ill email you as I want to hear more about this.
PS, always loved this strip....tried to recreate it a few years ago to get it printed but again it ended up as an unfinished project. ![]() ![]()

After searching several years for a plate scratch on Frank Bowerman I finally found one and as I suspected from existing plate scratch information it's a match to the plate scratch
found on Harry Pattee and it also matches Bowermans position on the Wagner strip. Four years ago I posted in this thread and another thread about the possibility of this scratch being found on Bowerman. Quote:
