Default June Pickups

Just go these gorgeous, centered beauts in the mail for my 52 set. I paid a hefty premium for the Joe Page, but I've NEVER seen him centered like this, so it was totally worth it.

Exhibitman,

That is a sweet looking PSA 6 Rose. Nice centering. That looks much better than a PSA 6. Since we are on the Reds here is my latest purchase.

Fantastic Gehrig! Of course, you'll need a Ruth to go with it!

I know these aren't cards, but I'll post them anyhow since I know many of you are Clemente and Aaron fans.

I just bought about 20 items from a guy who has a pretty amazing collection of old newspaper clippings and inserts.

This was cut out from a 1955 Sporting News publication.

This was an insert in a 1955 newspaper.

And these are advertisements for cards readers could send away for back in 1912 and 1913. I believe the player shown is Shoeless Joe. Zoom in on the first one to see quite a list of names.

Just got these in.

By far, the nicest 52 Topps cards that I now own.

Yeah, I know, just some 70's stuff, but it's a bucket list thing, collect all the sets of the cool older cards that I found from friends, their older brothers, cousins, garage sales, when I was a kid buying packs in 78-80.

Just filling in some gaps in my 1972 set. I only need Munson, the 2 Roses and Al Kaline and I'll have 1-656 complete, with 76 high numbers to go.

I also have some 1971s on their way, only 16 high numbers left to complete that set.

Love those '72s, such a rad looking set.

Upgraded my Clemente!

And my favorite photograph on any 70s card:

Don't apologize for what you collect. We all have different reasons we collect and different eras, sets, players, etc that we collect. Keep doing what you enjoy and keep sharing!

Do you have the 1972T TRADED subset yet? I don't have any of them but really like the Frank Robinson and Joe Morgan. Steve Carlton is another in that set.

I only have 1, Rick Wise. I'm pretty much mostly down to high numbers, so it's becoming a long term project with the 72s and I play bass in a cover band and I need a new amp for some upcoming gigs, which means I'll have to be happy with what I have for awhile.

NICE! My particular form of obsessive compulsive disorder doesn't allow me to buy cards in holders because I can't put them in the binder and the blank spot drives me nuts.

Received this today. It may be mid-grade (SGC 55) and a bit off-center; however, there's just something special about a '56 Mantle.

Am totally breaking the rules here to show a VERY modern card, courtesy of N54 member Tanner (of Canseco fantasy card fame). This came from winning the Opening Day Hunger Challenge he sponsored back in March.

My son is playing his first season of Little League, so I'm considering this his official Pre-Rookie card!

My quest for further low number 52 Topps cards and my first SGC and GAI graded cards. I must say, I like these SGC slabs! .

I know some of the stories associated with GAI, but thought I'd take a chance on this one as it was being sold by the same seller.

Thank you!

Centering never concerned me much but when I seen these and the relatively low bids they were getting, I jumped in and luckily won them.

A few random adds.

The Hostess is for a tweak to my Aaron display. I decided to pull out the five 1974 "Hank Aaron Special" cards as too redundant with his "real" cards.

This Collins, courtesy of B/S/T, is one of two no doubt HOFers in 1933 Goudey as managers/execs. Speaker is the other.

And here is one of my favorite Aaron magazines. I was able to upgrade from one with a mailing label and loose spine to this NM edition.

Thanks Jason, looks like you picked up what I would assume are a couple of pretty rare Aarons. Nice cards.

Part of a very large collection I recently picked up.
Don't know why, but this '53 Mick makes me smile
I think I'll keep him.

1968 Atlantic Oil Tommy Davis SP. This was the card needed to complete the run for the $100 second prize. Very tough to find any prize winners. This is my 2nd in 30+ years of chasing the set.

The Atlantic Oil is indeed a frustrating set. I have most if not all the non short prints, and just gave up looking for the SP's. Where did you find Tommy Davis?
