Am I correct in thinking any newer PSA graded/slabbed card has the "PSA" Hologram?
That is what I understand but recently looking at some of these hologram cards, I am beginning to think maybe I am wrong? When did PSA start adding the Holograms to their cards and is there any info to distinguish what years any card has been graded in? http://www.ebay.com/itm/141960008696...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

Yes, all the newer graded cards have the PSA hologram on the front of the flip. This change was instituted within the past calendar year. This, however, does not guarantee the card was graded in the same time span. You can send any PSA card in for a reholder and it will have both the new holder and new flip, but it will retain the same cert number. It could have been graded 2 years ago or 20, as long as it passes a once over to confirm the assigned grade is still within reason it gets reholdered with the new pair.
Theoretically, yes, you can pinpoint when a card was graded by the cert number, and to some extent to style of the flip.

That makes a lot of sense now seeing that the card I posted above is graded a 4. Imo, and based on what I have seen since joining, that card, if it was sent in raw nowadays, would be lucky to get a 1.5 or 2?

And just in the last couple of months, they've added a barcode with the number to the back of the label, so you can see the cert # while loading images into your online photo albums on their site.
So the card you graded was this year. The hologram is on the front, and the cert # is on the back. That's just a terrible grade for that card. Both top corners have spider creases, and then the whole top of the card looks like it has a crease, but is probably a shadow. Surface is also pretty scraped up. I would have guessed a 2.

It was holdered this year not necessarily graded this year. Any card they reholder will get the new hologram/barcode label.

Has PSA slacked off on their grading stringency as this is an older slab, or is likely due to what has already been discussed as far as reasons go? http://www.ebay.com/itm/1952-Topps-J...MAAOSw95lXFCqg

The Klippstein is a 1 POOR because of the staple holes in it. Any hole in a card (not originally manufactured that way) gets a 1. It's in their definition of Poor.

I read the vague description and since there was no mention of them it never even crossed my mind to look for them. Wondering if the current crop of bidders see them?

They probably see them, but think that the eye appeal of that card beats some others. The staple holes do blend into the black border line, I first noticed it by looking at the back and seeing the paper loss on the left side.
