Default Heritage Auction Wins

I was able to pick up this T207 Kelly with Cycle back last night. Who else here won cards in that auction? I am kicking myself for not going after the E94 Byrne overprinted (Three Strikes!) back. It went low.

My bids also went nowhere--but I do like the half-hour close for each lot. In general the many top-graded e90s went well under estimates. Does it seem caramel cards--speaking very very generally and not including CJs--have been in decline? Also, a lot of he most pricey CJs also failed to reach low end of estimates--when they said "2000 and up" they were often lucky to reach $1500.

I was going after the Hugh Duffy N173 but lost out. I thought it went for a really nice price for a HOFer.

The Glasscock N173 was gorgeous. Really strong price for that one.

Great pickups so far guys.

Ya' never know on estimates. I saw some that were low. I am not sure if I am going backward or forward with this one? And I don't know what my focus is going to be in the Luckey Collection II but this will be in it. I said yesterday that I thought high grade collecting was fine. And then there is collector grade....again, with no disrespect meant to us collectors. It's only terminology...

Congrats on the e90-1 Young Leon. I was able to see this card firsthand at a couple of Heritage auction previews and it's even more striking in person. One of my favorite cards in the hobby and easily the nicest example I've ever seen or am likely to see.

Still bidding... Won the 52 Topps set -1 and plenty of other things... If anyone has a Mantle I am looking for one to complete the set.

I struck out on the Boston Store Cobb and E103 Wagner.

Anyone else think that the majority of the T204's went really cheap?

Picked this one up - very happy, considering what it sold for at REA last year.

Nice pickup! If you don't mind me asking, how many Obak Millers are you up to these days?

This one makes 44 (1910 and 1911 combined).

Funny, I had 6 lots targeted last night, I lost the first two, but won the next two. This and the Mello Mint Boss Schmidt were my next two, but I never got to them. Beautiful card, congrat's! (I sure am glad I didn't get in a bidfest with you guys)

Default Win some, lose some

I have 2 more to go on my E95 set - Wagner and Cobb, two very nice cards in last nights HA auction. I kept at it last night, up, re-upped, etc - finally threw in the towel on each. Beautiful cards but couldn't justify any more given prices and trends IMO and kept telling myself to be patient. I was the under-bidder on both - congratulations to whomever won those! Especially the Wags, very nice card!

I did win the E95 Leach (that was one of the nicest 5.5's I've seen in a while, dead centered and very clean! Also the Willis in a 6 - both of which upgrade a bit over what I have.

ErikV - thank you for noticing these and what I needed! I might have overlooked otherwise.

Nice Cy, Leon. That was an amazing run of American Caramels offered.

My only win is this T207 Cycle of George Mogridge for both my type collection and my 1924-Senators-players collection:

But, I was the under-bidder on the card I really wanted - this recently discovered 1917 Merchants Bakery card of WaJo. I just couldn't bring myself to bid higher, as I felt it was already above what it should sell for. In fact, it went for the same price, $2,868, as the nice looking 1922 Gassler's Bread card of Ty Cobb, which surprised me, as I thought the Cobb would sell for more. In fact, each of the six lots of Merchants Bakery cards (lots 80971 - 80976) went for a good bit more than I expected them to (e.g., the SGC 20 Eppa Rixey sold for $1,314). I'm wondering if the same bidder won all six lots - does anyone know who won these?
Val
