Default There's a movement afoot... Vintage Base Ball

Does anyone have a Vintage team playing in your home town? I recently came across this Team schedule with 8 Vintage teams scattered from Nashville to Knoxville and in between, then went to their website for a view. Very interesting as these fellas go authentic down to how they play and what they wear... Do any of you have a league like this in your home town or is this specific to Tennessee?

http://tennesseevintagebaseball.com/ - Check out the Nashville Maroons Team pic & player nicknames... Very authentic.

I try to take the family to the Annual Copper City Classic Vintage Base Ball Tournament every year. If I didn't spend all of my life outside work coaching Little league baseball I'd try to play in it. It's really cool.

I mention the one here in Cleveland from time to time. They play some of the games at League Park, and use 1865 rules.. Haven't been to a game yet, but I bet it would be a good time. This year's schedule isn't up yet, but the website's pretty cool if you poke around a bit. Gotta bunch of goodies in regards to the history of the stadium, and a bunch of stuff about 19th century baseball in Cleveland.

Default There's a movement afoot...

The Boston area had a few local events; one was at George’s Island last summer that included two teams in vintage 19th century uniforms playing a game for the afternoon.

Hey there, found this thread online and thought I'd add some info. I'm with the Eclipse Base Ball Club of Elkton based in Elkton, MD. We play by 1864 rules in the Mid Atlantic Vintage Base Ball Association. http://www.elktonbbc.com

To Jay Wolt, we host the Gettysburg Festival and yes its a great time, thanks for the good words about it. This year will be the 5th time we hold the event. Draw teams as far as Texas and its a ton of fun. Hope we could meet up at some point if you come again.

If I can be of any help to people looking to play in the PA, MD, NJ, NY area, I can try to send you in the right direction. The TN gents have a great program and are easily found online.

Huzzah!

When I was doing Civil War reenacting here in St. Louis, we had a team show up at an event and play a pick up game with us.

Bay Area Vintage Baseball plays by 1886 rules. I used to occasionally watch them play in Golden Gate park when I lived a few blocks from there.
