Default Legendary Auctions

Their shipping charges are the worst in the industry.

Last year I won a 20k card in one of their auctions and the shipping was $90. At the time I thought it was kinda high but paid without issue.

In their most recent auction I won the E107 Joss for $8500, I expected the 19.5% buyer's premium, but then they tagged me with another $102.29 for shipping, handling, and insurance. It comes out to another 1.2%.

I inquired why the shipping charges more than doubled from last year and are so pricey. Their shipping manager stated it was a management decision. He said they now charge $.80 per $100 for insurance. That is very expensive, and then tack on more fees/costs.

Folks may want to consider factoring this into their bidding looking forward. Knowing that bidders will need to factor this into their bidding, I'd seriously consider other auction houses for listing my cards since you won't get top dollar, in my opinion.

You are right, Cory. I bought a card for around $700 (without buyer's fee) and the shipping on it is $22. Nothing close to what you paid, but was definitely eye opening to me and I will have to "adjust accordingly" in the future. BTW, the Joss was awesome!

I refrained from bidding on a lower-end card in overtime in this auction because it potentially would have been the only item I won, and I didn't feel like paying $30 shipping on a $300 card.

It got no other bids, so their outrageous shipping charges cost that consignor at least an extra $25.

Well, since these guys aren't called Mastro anymore, they have to make it somewhere instead of shill bids, if they have actually quit that.

I don't get it! I recently paid $13 for one raw card to be shipped to me from one of those big auction house companies that ended last week. Meanwhile I just got 2 '2's' for shipping and handling charges on Ebay for two graded cards. I charged the buyer $3.50 for the first card and .50 cents for the second card, for a grand total of $4.00!!! Now, because of those 2's, Ebay is giving me a hassle, saying that I am a POS seller and threatining to kick me off. Thanks buddy!! You've been blocked permanently!!!! Oh the irony....

I was charged $65 for my shipment. I bought several raw lots and a PSA registry set. It's a bit high, but not horrible.

Is there anything illegal about inflating costs that the USPS set as standard? Is that a type of fraud? Is it legal to make money using the USPS shipping service? Just curious.

Don't know why it would be fraud.

I am looking at my bill now. I get mad as hell when I get raped on shipping charges. I have yelled at my friend John burk and Steve Verkman and Pistol Pete Calderon over this from time to time and they have always corrected it for me.

Now my Legendary invoice has $26.28 shipping on it for about $885 in goodies but I see I won a partial set so I am actually ok with this one.

These large companies also usually have a shipping department which causes more overhead than you or me packing ebay at home.

That seems okay. I won a single card, for less than half that price and was billed $18.67 for shipping. That's about $5 more than I was expecting. I'll just figure that in next time. That'll probably drop me by one bid increment on a few things but not at all on most of them.

Only $0.80 per $100.00? Canada Post charges $2.05 per additional $100.00 coverage.
