I'm not a 19th-century collector, and I have no interest in trade cards, so the count already was 0-2 when I stumbled across these. I do know that some Tobins depict actual players and have more value. These obviously don't fit into that group.
The numbers in the lower-left corner are what made me wonder whether these are part of a specific series. I did searches of auction houses' archives and came up empty regarding these images. For those of you who collect or are familiar with these, do they fall in the generic category, and therefore have minimal value? These are part of a collection I'm selling for a friend, which is why I even have them. These measure 2 5/8 by 4 1/8 inches, excluding the one that is trimmed. Paper stock is just a tad lighter than a T206. Thanks, Rob |

Rob, your trade cards are from the Tobin "149" series - ACC H804-23. Keetz lists 9 different subjects in his book, but acknowledges that more may exist. Others will be able to give you a better idea about value.

Ed Keetz, the most knowledgeable person about these cards always goes to the Albany (NY) card show. I'll bet the promoters at any anyshowpromotions.com can connect you with him.

Since the 1887 set was a set of 10, I was always thinking there were 10 in this set as well. Here are four in my collection.

Pete is correct- the B & W are tougher than the color ones.
