As a rule, signed Press photos people should be VERY skeptical of. Unless you worked for THAT newspaper and for some reason they did not want the photo anymore after use (very rare) people just did not have access to these images to get signed. All the signed ones I have seen over the years were signed well after the fact (1970's or later) when the newspaper no longer wanted them and the paper was getting rid of them. I would imagine that newspaper paid for that photo and it was not the kind of thing they would have just tossed before the Babe died in 1948. Not saying its impossible, but it would be VERY unusual.
