This was a great looking card in the Bussineau Auction. I believe I was the underbidder

Not sure who won the Ruth but who ever sold the N28 Clarkson PSA 9 made a tidy little profit. They bought it in the last REA auction for $7,637.50 and got $26,520.00 for it in Bussineau auction tonight. A nice profit of about $17K for 6 months of owning the card.

You almost always see someone lose that much money. Congrats to the consigner.

Interesting indeed! What a difference in valuation between two auctions. I wonder if in the future we will see consigners insist upon higher reserves/minimum bids as values rise even higher for the best items, as has been the case in classic car auctions. The auction companies, of course, resist this, as they believe that lower minimums serve to coral in more bidders, after which the "ownership instinct" often takes over, to the detriment of self-discipline.
Thoughts, anyone? Larry |

If the card sold in the REA auction then you can pretty much be assured that who ever won it this time had to bid against someone else that also didn't know it was available in REA... Is that even possible?
