| Getting gum off a card - Freezer trick?

I recently opened a pack of '79 cards and got a Thurman Munson that the gum is firmly stuck to. I've heard about freezing the card to get it off. If so, how long do I do this and then do I just pull the gum right off or what? Do I keep the card in a plastic bag? Thanks! |

Though I've never done it, I've heard of using a can of compressed air to freeze the gum. Just don't spray the card! |

Seems like an ordinary freezer wouldn't have much effect, you might need lower temps. But, put it in a snug fitting plastic wrap and try it for a day or so, then quickly but very carefully see if the gum separates. I was once advised by a computer geek that my old laptop with a dead, but removeable harddrive could be resuscitated by leaving the drive in the freezer overnight. It got good and frosty but never responded.

Just soak the card in water, the gum will come off without taking paper with it, but you're going to have a gum stain no matter what.
