Ok, to all of the oldschoolers out there who were around when getting a card "graded" was a foreign term...
I have been collecting cards since I was a kid, mostly Topps BB 50's-70's and dabbled in golf 1900-2005. I am relatively new to T206's and though I have a stack of graded cards and have handled a few raw singles from time to time, I had an awesome experience last night that made me want to crack all of my PSA and SGC holders with T206's in them. I hand flipped through a half inch stack of T206 cards! Awesome to feel them and (as odd as it sounds) see them for the first time. I felt like a kid just outside of a five and dime in 1910 gazing at these prized little gems. What a feeling. Nothing like it. |

I have been putting together my second T206 set -- this time in all raw form. I got this stack of about 180 T206 cards a couple of weeks ago, and it was just incredible flipping through them -- I think I posted about it on here. Completely agree -- it is an awesome experience.

As long as you're comfortable in the knowledge that you're possibly/likely lowering the potential resale price for your cards by busting them out, then I say do it. I cracked out the vast majority of my graded cards about 2 years ago and have never regretted it.

Funny how I have a few $5 cards (or less) in slabs and have some $50 (and up) raw. I too love the look and feel of a nice stack of raw T206 (or other 'small') cards. I especially like the small 'tobacco' semi rigid holders.

I have been a collector since I was a boy and without being particularly intentional toward doing it, I have probably amassed 200-250 t206s. As I need a project, I think I am going to effort to put together a "major league" set for starters...one of each pose of each major leaguer featured in the set. I am going to allow "substitutes" for a few of the rare ones...I have caramels of the same size of Wagner and Plank. Once I get done with that, who knows?
