Please see post number 122 in this thread:
http://www.net54baseball.com/showthr...120263&page=13 This type of collection really caught my attention, and I would like to do something similar, just for fun, to collect the backs of one front side of a card. With that being said, which common card in the T-206 set is visually appealing with a nice collection of colors? I like the yellow and oranges in the background, but I am open to anything. If you can post some photos of suggestions, and the full names of the player, I would really appreciate it.

Paul,
Deciding on which card you want to pursue depends. Are you interested in tougher backs? If not Killian Pitching offers you a lot of possible backs with the orange and yellow you're looking for. ![]() Or Leifeld Pitching ![]() If you want a few tougher backs maybe: Maloney ![]() Phillippe ![]() |

Hi Paul
Here are a few you may consider. The reason that I'm suggesting these players is because they are in the 150/350 series and have mostly easy backs. They are also non-HOFers, so this project won't get so costly. 1. Howie Camnitz (arms folded) - 8 different backs 2. Billy Gilbert - 9 different backs 3. Ed Hahn - 8 different backs 4. Germany Schaefer (Detroit) - 8 different backs The toughest backs for any of these 4 players is either Old Mill or EPDG. The rest are Piedmonts, Sweet Caporal or Sovereign backs. Hope this helps Jantz Last edited by Jantz; 03-07-2010 at 08:44 AM. |

Paul,
To build on what Tim and Jantz have already mentioned, another 150/350 series card you might want to consider is Bob Ewing. The card has nice colors (sunset) and has 8 possible backs, none of which are all that difficult. Another recommendation would be the Del Howard card in the 350 series (shown below), which has 10 possible backs. The backs in the 350 series are generally more difficult than the 150/350 series, but on the up side, this card has not been confirmed with two of the more difficult backs - Carolina Brights and Drum. I think the ultimate challenge would be to try and complete the back set for the Wild Bill Donovan Throwing card. I think this is one of the best looking T206s in the set (show below, middle). It's known with eight different backs, including the very difficult Broad Leaf 350 and Drum. If that wasn't enough of a challenge, you could branch out to other T and E sets that contain a nearly identical pose - including T213-1, T216, E92 (shown below, large), E101 (shown below, small), E102, E105 and E106. And given that T216 and E92 have multiple back brands and colors, you'd be looking at 20+ possible backs for this one pose. Good luck! Steve (all images courtesy of oldcardboard.com) |

Guys:
Thank you for all of the suggestions. Right now I am leading towards the Del Howard. The reason? Gorgeous colors and what appears to be part of baseball stadium stands on the horizon. It just screams vintage to me.
