Could some of the experts here give reasonable values for 1936/37/38/39 world series bats similar to the one shown here? I am not really sure of market value for bats of this nature. Also, how many of these would have been made and how would one have most likely acquired one. Thanks in advance!

I am not an expert, but I know the 1st bat was produced by Louisville Slugger in 1934. I think they stopped producing World Series bats in the late 1990s or early 2000.
These were produced for players, managers, coachs, executives of both teams participating in the World Series. I have not kept up on values. There are a couple of experts out there. Maybe they read the board. Joe Last edited by jcmtiger; 10-11-2009 at 10:37 AM. |

The early ones are very rare and expensive. Very few exist especially of the brown bats.

Dennis, go to ebay and do a search on seller ebay id ZANEBATS. He has been dealing with these bats for a long time and knows a lot about them. You can contact him thru ebay.

The bat like the one you've pictured is one of the tougher "black bats" (yes, I know that one is brown, but most are black, hence the common term. Heritage Auctions sold one a mid-grade example in October 2007 for $1,315, but pristine examples can sell for hundreds more. The 1937 model is brown as well, then they're black from then on. I've always thought they were undervalued, honestly, as most sell for under $1,000, and often well under that figure. Oddly, one of the toughest is the 1991 Twins, which typically sells for over a grand. Don't ask me why...
