Fake Engraved Items
So I've been watching this seller from the U.K. selling obvious engraved fake items, was waiting for them to now to start appearing under the U.S. sellers who bought them and now re-selling. Pretty sure that's the case here, just be wary anything engraved:
U.S. seller: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1906-Chicag...8jTJ:rk:3:pf:0 U.K seller: 1956 Frank Gifford Alarm clock: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1956-Frank-...p2047675.l2557 1927 Yankees Earle Combs case: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1927-world-...p2047675.l2557 1919 World Series Pat Moran case: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1919-world-...p2047675.l2557 1969 Mets Yogi Berra case: https://www.ebay.com/itm/1969-World-...p2047675.l2557 Last edited by Shoeless Moe; 11-22-2018 at 05:34 AM. |

Nice job watching for these. The good thing is they look fake, especially the Pat Moran card case. When the crooks actually get to mastering the pre-computer typefaces then we'll have problem.

The Gifford one is so obvious. Who but a 'pom' (Brit) would put "American Football" on an item. Also, what is the point of having World Series on the Yogi Berra item if it does not also have the word 'Champions'? The original seller is obviously a fornicating rectum.
Here are a few more. His fake North American sports items, including NHL, are all from the last six months. Before that it was WWII German items. Most of these items are selling for less than $80.00. The Tommy Heinsohn item actually sold for over $160.00 and the buyer has feedback of over 22,000. This was more than the Babe Ruth item. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1950-Stanle...p2047675.l2557 https://www.ebay.com/itm/Antique-192...p2047675.l2557 https://www.ebay.com/itm/Syracuse-na...p2047675.l2557 https://www.ebay.com/itm/Los-Angeles...p2047675.l2557 https://www.ebay.com/itm/1941-Stanle...p2047675.l2557 https://www.ebay.com/itm/Boston-Celt...p2047675.l2557

Agree... The Frank Gifford made me laugh the hardest. As if it would say "American Football"
Good job pointing these out... Not that they should fool anyone here, but they sure duped some "less discriminating" collectors, apparently. |

go to a few “legit” sports auction house websites and search for engraved in past auctions. you will find quite a few pieces as questionable as the ones above. very easy to take a vintage $50 silver platter and turn it into a presentation piece to a famous athlete.
