Default Dad's and my T-card collection

Some of you know Dad and I have been collecting "The Monster," together since fall, 2003. He was not able to make the National this year, so we got together this week and I was giving him the cards I picked up at the show. We decided to put the collection together and compare checklists. We haven't counted officially yet, but I think we are around 420 T-206 cards. Thanks for looking and allowing me to share our set.

Sebastian,
We should get together some time. I am on the east side of the county and have another close friend, a board member, who lives in the city. We should go get wings some night and talk cards?

George...........While you're on the subject, several of other Net54'ers got together 2 years ago in Ann Arbor, with Andy Garden organizing the group. He's also a big t206 guy with only 4 needed for his set. If you're thinking about a get together, I think you might be able to get a group of guys to meet up. Just a thought as there's a number of guys in lower Michigan.

Hi George

Not sure if you remember me. We met at the food court and chatted for a few minutes. Can't remember if that was at the 2007 or 2009 National in Cleveland though.

Great looking T206 set so far!

Thanks for posting the photos. Nice pre-war collection you got there.

Great photo of you and your Dad. That's what collecting is all about -- sharing it, somehow, with good friends or, even better, family. That's quite the collection!

Awesome post.

I have a 9 years old son who loves baseball more than I do. Don't get me wrong, I love baseball like crazy too

In past two years, we have been working on 1993 Topps Finest Refractor Set. I know you guys might scream and say, get out of here- haha Its the first refractor set and they are very demand as only 241 cards made each card. There's 199 cards in set and we are at 109 now. I just showed this post to my son and he said, wow 420 T-206 cards! you have 68 T206 Taylor instead. He sure know what I got. I guess he listens really well. I told him that we will do a pre-war set after this. I think I might go for goudey or a set that carries plenty of HOF players.

It's nice to do this with family. I have 1955-1969 Topps Set from my dad's childhood days.

Even though my focus are Deaf Sports History but will always make room for something like this.

Best,
Danny

Hi George,

I remember meeting you and your Dad at the Cleveland National a few years back. In fact, we sat next to each other at the Net54 dinner and we attended an Indians game.

I am glad to see that you and your Dad are still collecting. Hope to catch up with you again one day.

Great story & collection George, sharing it with your Dad is priceless. BTW - I'm in SE Michigan and would definitely be interested in a get together.

Danny,
You and your son definitely need to meet up with myself and "Little George" along with IowaDoc and his sons at the Chicago national. We had a ball at night trading in the hotel conference room. Thanks for sharing your story!

My dad collects wine, not interested in baseball cards. We do drink wine and talk about my cards every once in a while, lol!

Steven, that is really funny, my Dad works in Dayton for Heidelberg Wine Distributing, and also enjoys his product.

Default Awesome

Great story. Great to meet you and your son at the National. Truly awesome opportunity with your dad! This was the second year of three generations to the National for my family. Dad didn't buy anything last year and just took it all in. This year I think he may have started to get the fever. He bought a Nile Kinnick 55 Topps all-American football card and then bought 3 more cards from that set. Was so cool to see him excited. My kids like new and flashy football cards so we bought a lot of that for them and I like vintage football and pre-war baseball so between the 3 of us we had to hit almost every dealer booth but it was a time I will never forget. Love stories like these and can't wait to hear more updates about your T set.

Thanks for chiming in Iowadoc! The highlight of the show was watching our sons trade, bust wax, and bond over cards. Shiny stuff or not, that is what the hobby is all about! I knew your dad watch catch the bug! That is fantastic!
