Ebay sellers should not ask you to use friends and family. It is my understanding that Paypal does not offer any buyer protection for Friends/Family payments.

I wonder of he can be punished by Paypal for asking you to use friends and family option when it isn't allowed?

Also, and I'm not sure about this, but don't you pick to either pay the fee or charge the recipient on a f/f payment?

You said this was going to Canada? If so, the Paypal fee is what? 3% 4%
Your paying in US Dollars so he getting an extra roughly 30% in CND depending on the current exchange rate.

I'm going to assume he speaks English as a second language. This is how I'm sure I sounded trying to speak Thai ten years ago, in Thailand. People still got the jist of what I was saying, though.

Sounds like Ricardo is ESL, that card was for sale on B/S/T and the transaction went south. Ricardo, every time I pay PP/FF I am charged unless it comes directly from my Paypal balance. It doesn't happen often on BST but it happens that some transactions don't work out. Don't lose any sleep over it, go find another card for your friends X-mas gift.

It is true that the Seller did not disclose that the card was coming from Canada.
However, the OP bid "$20", not "$20 if I can get it before Christmas" (The auction ended on the 18th. A pre-Christmas arrival was unlikely anyway) A Communication Breakdown led to a failed transaction. Both parties will survive.
