1966 Topps Signed Pickups - Tough Ones!
I just purchased a TTM collection that was collected from 1960 through 1966 and had pretty much remained untouched since. I was excited to see the following two autographs in the lot. Every now and then you'll see a Keane but the Dressen is extremely tough.
The cards present nicely as well, both have the indentation of a paperclip on the bottom (as do the rest of the cards) from where the card was obviously held to the original letter or return envelope. |

I just read the wiki page about Johnny Keane and he was only 55 when he died in 1967. The picture on that 1966 card was most likely taken about 2 years or more before his death. Yowza!! When I had that 'old' card as a kid in the 70's, I thought it pictured a 100 year old man.

It might have been rapid aging due to the stress of the Yankees job as there were great expectations.

Baseball players spent their entire lives out in the sun and it is crazy how youthful and handsome most of these guys were when they first started and by about 30 years old most of them looked 50! Joe Jackson and Ed Walsh are two of the worst. Skin health is probably the ONLY good thing about the advent of night baseball!

I don't imagine the smoking helped a lot either.
