FS: 1952 Topps 80 card starter set VG-ish - incl Feller Snider Mize Roberts Irvin etc
Hi - up for sale is a nice starter set group of 1952 Topps cards. There are 80 cards in the group (no high numbers) - 76 different cards from the 1 through 310 series.
HOF / Star cards include:- Duke Snider- Robin Roberts- Monte Irvin- Enos Slaughter- Bob Feller- Johnny Mize- Jackie Jensen
Plenty of other minor stars like Al Rosen, Jim Konstanty, Yankees / Dodgers, etc.
Condition is a bit mixed; I'll scan a bunch of these so you can get a good sense. I didn't pick and choose the best condition cards to scan; hopefully this is a good representative mix.
Most of these came from an original collection that I just acquired from the 80 year old gentleman who collected these as a 10 year old. I'd call them mostly G-VG. There'll be some creases, some edge issues, corners, maybe the occasional pen mark, etc. scattered throughout, but I don't think there are any real beaters in here. Maybe some better, some worse, but hopefully between the description and the scans, you'll get a good idea of what's going on here. Nice collector-grade cards for a raw set, but nothing you're going to send off to get graded, most likely.
(Just noticed a couple of scans cut off the tops of the cards in the pic. If you want to see scans of anything in particular, just let me know and give me your email address, and I can send along better scans of anything you want to see.)
On the backs of roughly 17 of the cards, there is a light pencil notation of "FOURTH" along the border. It's a bit hard to see; the final scan shows an image of 6 of the cards which have this, so you have an idea. It's all just on the commons, and all on cards numbered 193 and higher. No numbers lower than this have that on the back. I asked the original owner if he knew what this was for, but he didn't recall at all.
There are no high numbers, but plenty from the low (1-80) series.
