1990 Topps #336 Ken Griffey, Jr (double print)

Has anyone seen one of these Ken Griffey, Jr. #336 that is double printed on the back? Front looks fine, back is 100% double printed. One more question, if there are plenty of these around how come I have never seen another one. Who has one? Thanks

Do you have a picture? I don't have a 90 Topps but I have a couple rookie Griffey cards with overprints.

Looks like a cool print offset.

Looks like the sheet got run through the black press twice, offset the second time. Most of these sheets would have been thrown out. Most grading companies will not grade this as an error card, because it is just misprinted by the factory that printed the cards.
It's worth whatever you can convince someone to buy it for.

Also, card collectors normally use the term "double print" to refer to cards that were printed multiple times during a printing process, making them twice as likely to be seen as single prints. Topps used to use 110 card sheets (11x10) that usually had 80 cards depicted, therefore printing three duplicate rows to get the 80 cards + 30 cards to fill the sheet of 110.

It isn't double black print. It is offset black print against the rubber blanket "black" or greyish print. I have a ton of 1990 Topps that didnt get black ink but still went through the rubber blanket so there is a ghost/faint grey color where black should be.

My guess is still print offset. With black it uses less ink to do 2 thin layers than one thick layer. As example then you look at the 1986 Roger Clemens Blue Streak error. They printed blue under the black to save on ink. One of the coolest examples is the 1989 Fleer Bill Ripken FF card. If you can find one of the rare print offset cards you can clearly see they printed all 3 colors under the black on the F*ck Face on the bat knob.

No idea how they actually printed the backs on that card, just my guess.
