Playing around with some low-cost junk wax graded:
1987 Donruss Kevin Brown RC PSA 9- $9.52 delivered 1989 Topps Traded Kevin Brown PSA 9 - $8.67 delivered 1989 Score Traded Kevin Brown PSA 9 - $7.47 delivered The 1989 Brown cards are graded at much lower numbers than the ‘87, to the extent that a search for “1989 Kevin Brown PSA 9” on eBay returns one result. It’s likely the year for Curt Schilling and the HOF (he deleted his Twitter account in this election year, which should help). Schilling was 216-146 with a 3.46 ERA (127 ERA+) and 79.5 WAR. Brown, who was one-and-done on the HOF ballot, was 211-144 with a 3.28 ERA (127 ERA+) and 67.8 WAR The WAR difference is significant...but those raw numbers are really similar. I think when the eventual reckoning of HOF SP standards happens, Brown will get in via the vets committee. Last edited by Mike D.; 08-02-2020 at 07:22 AM. |

Turned away from vintage for a month to pick up some Reds RCs that I've been eyeing. Hopefully Tyler Stephenson has a bright future to match his first at bat home run. Also excited about the Castillo RCs; hopefully the Reds can keep him around, but I have a feeling he is going to test the open market. Still not sure of what to make of Senzel. He is injured a lot.

Picked up a 1990 Topps Tiffany Andre Dawson graded PSA 9 on eBay via auction for $5.62 delivered. That feels like a bargain.

Picked up a nice 2018 Topps Chrome Acuna RC Relic Refractor recently. And also finally got a Teixeira Auto RC that I've been wanting for a while. I collect Teixeira game used and auto cards and just never got his rookie until now.

Although I'm downsizing my collection, I still picked up a few cards before I bow out for a lengthy bit. I decided to pick up my first Topps Tiffany, and I'm quite pleased with Griffey in PSA 7. I'm fearing Trout cards will drop in price like Pujols' did, but I couldn't walk away without having one, so I picked up one with a corner ding.
Finally, found an early career signature 87 Donruss RC of Larkin. I ran it past NET54 first, and a few people shared pics of this style signature from their PC. THANK YOU. The amount I hope to get rid of should open up plenty of room in the showcase for me to highlight some of my Larkin items. And this auto RC should contrast nicely with his modern sig. ![]() ![]() ![]() Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Tapatalk
