Three unbelievable pieces that date to before Roberto Clemente set foot on a major league baseball diamond.
Dated December 15,1954, this letter hails from the offices of major league baseball. The letter acknowledge a letter that had been sent by Montreal to the commisioner making a claim for the services of Roberto Clemente, who had been selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the Rule V draft less than a month before. The claim was obviously unsuccessful, as this was likely just a shot in the dark by the Dodgers organization.
