Try arranging your T206 set with respect to its various Series..150..350..460, etc.

Most T206 set collectors arrange their cards in alphabetical order. And, some collectors have them arranged by teams. I prefer to
arrange my T206's according to their Series (150..350..460). This way, I gain more insight into how they were printed and issued.

PIEDMONT tobacco was the American Tobacco Company's "flagship" brand in the early 1900's. All 522 subjects in the T206 set are
found with the PIEDMONT brand. Furthermore, large surveys have indicated that 53% of the T206 population are PIEDMONT cards.

Let's start with the 150 Series from my 99.6 % complete (minus Plank and Wagner) all-PIEDMONT set of 520 cards (it includes the
"poor-man's" Joe Doyle error card).

Nice work Ted, thanks for sharing. I have a question . I completed the known backs of a Lumley back run. Lumley is a 150 series card, is there a reason as to why he does not have a Sov350 or a SC Overprint? Were they probably printed but none found, or is this a common occurrence?

Hi Donnie

Lumley is one of approx. 55 - 150/350 series subjects that are SOVEREIGN 350 no-prints. I would be quite surprised if you ever find Lumley with this back.

Regarding the SWEET CAP 150 Factory #649 overprint, the cards printed with this overprint were originally on SC Factory #30 sheets printed early in the
press runs. You definitely will not find Lumley with this overprint.

Hi Ted

Since I'm building a set slightly different than others, here is how I have my set arranged.

1 box - Southern Leaguers
2 boxes - Polar Bears
2 boxes - All the other cards/backs to my set

I have to keep my Polar Bears separate to avoid any confusion. The same rule applies with my checklists. Two separate checklists, one for Polar Bears and the other checklist for the rest of the non-Polar Bear back subjects.

I guess I'm a glutton for self inflicted punishment.

Have you ever lined up the 68 1910 Coupons and cross referenced the 20 SLer's to see if any pattern emerges? Just curious if there is any trends with respect to the 48/20 Coupon Type 1's to the 150/350 series, Hindu SLer's, etc.

My Carton has a shadow where something the size of a Coupon card was residing, and it probably was taped on there as you suggested, and with the scores of Coupons found with missing paper at the top middle, but the rest of the card is in really good shape, makes me really start buying into the limited production theory of these cards were distributed in a limited fashion in location (Deep South) and distributed in limited fashion upon marketing/release. (Instead of packs, they were on Cartons) - Your ATC theory is an interesting one. We may be in the right direction on the Coupons, so more time is needed to help prove the theory right or wrong. Right on ! ......regarding the Irby Branch in New Orleans.





The 48-Major League subjects in the 1910 COUPON set were derived from an early 350 series (see post #2 here) press run of T206's.
American Litho. simply changed the cardboard stock from the T206 production norm to a thinner stock to produce the COUPON cards.
You and I (with a number of others on this forum) have done the research, and are well informed about the 1910 COUPON issue. And,
that's why we consider these 68 cards as just another Tobacco brand amongst the basic 15 brands of the T206 set.

Incidentally, the Southern Association subjects were printed in a separate press run from the Major Leaguers.
