1948 Bowman - SET COMPLETE!

EDITED TO ADD - SET COMPLETE!!

Moved my dad from the family home to a smaller condo. found his childhood baseball and football cards, 1948 Bowmans!

most in "played with" condition, but enough to start a set quest. While showing them to my Mother in Law she said her husband has the same cards in the basement. She dug them out and gave me additional 1948 Bowmans (BB & FB) so now COMPLETED BOTH SET RUNS!. Just COMPLETED THE FULL 108 card FB set~!

Inherited 14 cards from Pops and FIL 5/23/2015
32 cards 8/2/2015 (National pickups @ Chicago)
95 cards 2/19/2016 (Sterling auctions lot & Ebay)
106 cards 4/4/2016 (Chantilly VA show & Ebay)
108 Cards 5/21/2016 (Pittsburgh Card Show) - thanks AJ!

Conditions - Range from P/F to EX most raw - 10 are PSA graded 4's & 5's

Investment - $2115.00

Value - Priceless completing something my Dad started when he was a kid!

Very cool story about coming into some cards and building up some sets. I wish I had some 48 Bowman football dupes to trade.

That is a great story! I've been collecting almost 30 years and have always hoped I could come across something like that. However, none of my family was really into sports, I was the first one.

I have the Kenny Washington, but it's really low grade and I'm sure you can do better!

Good luck with this and I hope that you keep posting as you acquire the ones you need. I'm relatively new to the boards but I have fallen in love with vintage again and love seeing cards and reading stories.

When I lived in Pittsburgh, I had probably 60% of the 1955 All American set but when I moved to Indianapolis, I needed some money to I sold it off.

thanks for the nice comments fellas! it is a cool story, nice to keep them in the family. Just found out I am going to be a Grandpa.... so I hope my grandkid likes vintage cards... seems my kids dont have much interest!
