Here's my question, if a card that is typically difficult to find well centered is available in say a "6" grade and has near-perfect centering but a diamond cut that is fairly obvious, would you consider that card to command a premium for the grade because of the great centering, lower value than normal for the grade because of the diamond cut or typical price for the grade because these two factors cancel each other out?

It depends on how severe the diamond cut. Do you have the actual example or is it live? I reserve my opinion until I can see the actual issue.

I'd personally take a nice clean OC example over diamond cut, even if it is well centered otherwise. I'm not a centering guy though.. corners, clean surface and image are definitely higher priorities to me.

This is a card I just bought. O/C to me is fine. I do not like diamond cuts for some reason. I avoid them at all costs. Just IMO. Thanks, Mike |

Personally if I was bidding...I would pick a OC one as opposed to diamond cuts... I hate them.

This would be pretty sad if I know the exact card to which you're referring.
![]() oh, and for the record, a diamond cut doesn't bother me on a T card or an E card, but on a more modern issue (eg. 1952 Topps) it would bug me. |

me too....don't care for O/C but diamond cuts are usually ok to me. All in the eye of the beholder.. Interesting answers and goes to show there is something for everyone.

To me it all depends. Left-right centering bugs me way more than top-bottom centering issues. Diamond cut cards can look off-center as well. I'd have to say it's a card-by-card analysis for me.

I'd buy the diamond cut and trim it to be more pleasing…

As a newbie to T206 collecting, this is an interesting topic. I've been turned off by diamond cuts as they have wonky eye appeal to me. I'd prefer OC cards but again, as a newb, I may change my mind over time.
