1953
1953 bowman is a way more iconic set than 1954 bowman.

1. Cracker Jacks
2. t206 3. 1952 Topps 4. '33 goudeys 5. N172's 6. e90 7. T3's 8. 1949 Bowman 9. 1940 Play Ball 10. N300 I collect eras, so here's where Im at. When I think of "classic sets" I think of larger sets that represent the era typically excluding n28s, 38 goudeys, etc. When I did a T3 thread it lasted for a awhile leading me to believe there are quite a few t3 collectors out there and the cards simply are stunning with arguably the best backgrounds on any card ever made. 1. T206
2. 1933 Goudey 3. Old Judge N172 4. T3 5. 1953 Color Bowman 6. 1956 Topps 7. E90 8. T202 9. 1952 Topps 10. 1934-36 Diamond Stars T206, 33 Goudey and N172 are the best of the best. I like Topps' introduction (51's notwithstanding) in their mainstream sets. In my opinion T3 and 53 Color Bowmans are gorgeous. I like the T202's for the action shots. I include the 1952 Topps simply for the iconic status of #311. I also enjoy the Diamond Stars' artwork. Erik |

These classics are, to my mind, the backbone of any collection.

Hard to pick 10:
1) 1952 Topps 2) T206 3) 1914/1915 Cracker Jack 4) 1933 Goudey 5) 1968 Topps (May be biased as it was my first ever complete set I ever finished and is my favorite set of all time.) 6) 1963 Topps 7) 1868 Peck and Synder (First ever set of baseball cards) 8) 1800s Old Judge Baseball Cards 9) 1903 Breisch-Williams Company (First MAJOR baseball card set of the 1900s) 10) 1978 Topps Honorable Mentions: 2001 Topps, Any 1986 Set (Started the mass-production of baseball cards which lasted from 1986 to 1992 making any card from that decade practically worthless.), 1991 Topps Desert Shield (Limited print set which was only available to the troops in Iraq), 1991 Topps Stadium Club, 2009 Topps (Starlin Castro RC), 1953 Bowman Color, ETC Last edited by UOFLfan7; 07-10-2012 at 10:44 PM. |
