1974 Manchester City uniform worn by Denis Law,
Go to the 1:10 mark and look at this jersey. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HCvb51q8Nb4 I want it in my collection just for the uniqueness. It looks funnier in the video with him walking around in it. Who sewed the numbers on? A blind drunk? they started out in the middle of the jersey and ran out of room on the right side. WTH? Look at the distance between the 1 and the 0, comparing the space at the top and again at the bottom, and the zero is cockeyed. Last edited by travrosty; 05-05-2012 at 08:36 AM. |

Football (aka soccer) is my main interest and I've quite a few match worn / issued shirts from the 1960s and 1970s with handsown numbers on the back that are very, um, "unaligned".
Off-topic, but ironic timing that you should post that video clip today, given that last Monday, Manchester City defeated Manchester United to put City on the cusp of their first league title since 1969. |

While it is indeed hideous.... It's still better than the current soccer Jerseys. Here in Seattle, the Sounders Jerseys proclaim "XBOX" in huge writing... an advertisement. A small, off-center team logo looks like an after-thought, and pales in comparison to the XBOX Ad. The fact that it's an ugly lime green doesn't even matter much...
I am saddened that it's come to this, and hope the generic uniform/corporate influence never infiltrates baseball (with ads on the uniforms). Below is a real jersey... two polar opposites... Last edited by perezfan; 05-05-2012 at 10:47 AM. |

Yup... those were dreadful, too. A very ill-advised concept, and from everything I've read, the players HATED them

Always thought the Jerry Lucas '71 card had the worst jersey ever, at least for basketball

When I was in college, back around 1978, I was an English class with Bill Veeck's daughter. When I raised a question about those shorts, she said that the players said that they were comfortable. Of course, even if they were comfortable, they still could have, and should have, hated them.
