Hi, this is the first post of a “long time observer.” Having the National almost in my back yard inspired me to dig out my small collection (24) of Old Judge cards which I had acquired during the late 1980's. Some of the backs have been written on or stamped. I am hoping someone may recognize the handwriting or may have information on “ANDREW BRADLEY?” Thank you.
Oops about the ditital stamp on McPhee. I got that card before he became a HOFer. ![]() |

Welcome - great cards!
It's interesting - the pen notations (such as on McPhee and others) appear to have been done many years after the fact. I wonder - when was it acceptable to write on cards? I mean by collectors, and not just kids. I have seen many instances where the ACC designation of E98, etc., is written on the cards, so apparently it was OK among collectors to write on them at least into the 1930s. I wonder when this stopped becoming a normal practice? Last edited by scooter729; 08-23-2010 at 01:44 PM. |

Anyone seen this back stamping before?
![]() The stamp is Burdick's; that "B" appears in albums in the Met that I saw when I visited there.

![]() Whoever wrote this note about Werrick had great penmanship! Has anyone seen other cards with this kind of printing? |

First off let me say that having a McPhee and a Gus Schmelz out of only 24 Old Judges is doing pretty darn good!
I don't recognize the writing and have nothing to add to who Andrew Bradley was, but I thought I would show my favorite OJ "back-stamp" that I have ever seen. It appears someone was using them to advertise their "Cigar Shop" post distribution by Goodwin, kinda neat go along item.
