Before we move up to the majors, here's a nod to the American Association champion Columbus Red Birds of 1933.

Here are few that I picked up at this year's National.
1. 1938 Bob Feller playing marbles with the marble champ from Akron. 2. Louis Van Oeyen photo of Logan Drake. Notice the black arm band in memory of Ray Chapman. 3. 1935 All-Star Game held in Cleveland. Joe Vosmik fell runnng to 3rd on a hit by Gehringer. Pepper Matrin was covering 3rd base. Hope you enjoy them Jantz Last edited by Jantz; 01-16-2010 at 11:58 AM. |

Last I checked, Cincy was on the north side of the Ohio River... so I guess Reds stuff will also qualify for this thread. Below is a Turnstyle from Crosley Field, an early Redland Field Mirror (Crosley Field's original name), and a few more Reds' knick-knacks.
Better things to follow, once I have some time to dig out.... Last edited by perezfan; 09-09-2009 at 05:05 PM. |

Do you Ohio Fans know what Ken Keltner was best known for in the baseball world?

He made popular the wearing-socks-with-flops look in the clubhouse.

Those are sandals, not flip-flops. Don't you know anything? D., Keltner often is cited for ending Joe D's 56 game hitting streak, with a couple of nice fielding plays. |

Those who have or had tenure in the game call them flops. Or shower shoes. Not sandals.

Let me get this straight. Professional ball players are so rich they wear LEATHER footwear in the shower? (And I checked. You never had tenure. You had "sixure".) Last edited by Jim VB; 10-20-2009 at 11:13 AM. |
