Picked up this really cool 1930's "Hit and Run" board game.
Also got this "See Home Run Derby on TV!" hat. You dont see much vintage home run derby memorabilia so I was really happy to find this. Its not some cheap children's souvenir either. Its heavy wool and an adult size, 7 3/8. Anyone ever see another of these? |

More great pickups. Ive never seen that HRD hat either. When ESPN did the old shows on rerun a few years ago, I got to see most of them. What great stuff. I loved how the other guy would come and chat with Mark Scott when his opponent was hitting. Then the unseen voice would yell. "One out, Two Away", etc.

Hi Andy,
Very much so. Yours is the first one I have seen with that add on the back paper. You might want to check it Andy many of mine had a seperate coverlet paper over the cameo pepsin logo. Many of mine just had a plain whitehead and hoag with the patent dates but like I said when I removed the paper there under it was the nice and clean cameo pepsin logo. A nice pickup Andy: ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Very cool pinback Andy! I've never seen a Cameo pin that advertises anything other than Cameo Pepsin gum.

Funny you should mention Wilson - I just had the Ward's out tonight while watching my former little league team (Lakeside) get hammered by Chula Vista. A kid hit a homerun that must have gone 350 feet! This 12-year old was 6-2, 205.
Anyway, I wonder what will happen first: me getting Foxx or you getting Wilson? -A |

Just back from Beckett (1949 Caray, 1928 McGowan, 1911 Connolly/Klem & 1953 O'Malley) ..............

I find the Beckett authentication of the 5 person announcer/umpire photo quite amusing, as of course "Klein" is Bill Klem, and the Klein/Klem and Tommy Connolly ID's are transposed.

Let's call this an August "revelation"...
I was researching some of my tickets tonight and discovered that in this game, played July 10, 1935, Babe Herman of the Reds hit the first home run in a night game in major league history! This was the fourth night game in MLB history, and the first night game for the visiting Brooklyn Dodgers. ![]() I LOVE little victories like this! |

Picked up a couple of rppc's.
Central City Nebraska -anyone know what AOUW might stand for? ![]() And this came from the same seller - only the seller didn't list it as a Nebraska football game which I'm sure is why I got it for a bargain. 0-0 tie against powerhouse Minnesota. As an added bonus when I got it in the mail today I was surprised to read the note and could see the postcard was written by a Nebraska football player. A little googling helped me figure out that this postcard was written by all-conference half-back and linebacker Ernest Kroger to his girlfriend back home in Polk, Nebraska. ![]() ![]() Here's a link to a picture of Kroger from the 1908 UNL yearbook http://unlhistory.unl.edu/yearbooks/...s.php?page=192

Nice postcards Dan, always nice to find a sweet bonus like it being written by a player, once you receive it in the mail.
My guess is that the baseball postcard is for a lodge of the Ancient Order of United Workmen. |
