Forgive my ignorance, but have noticed so many variations in this set, even when comparing different cards of the same player...
1) Color variations. Some look very sepia toned while others look more black and white.
2) Name variations. Some have the player's name/team in a nice little box while others are scribed in the background.
3) Postcard backs. Rare, but seems a few have been found with postcard backs while the vast majority are blank.
4) Image background. Some have the empty white backdrop while others show a real life background.
So I guess my overall question is... what the heck? Why so many variations? Are some tougher than others? Were other companies producing these things other than
Worch at the same time and is there any evidence of that? Why do they all get grouped under the
Worch name if so?
Thanks in advance. Fascinating set.
not mine... but just to show an example... (stolen from Leon's site)
