I bought a Lee Tannehill a couple years back with an interesting red stray mark up top. I figured it wasn't added later due to the grade of the card matching the condition. I never really looked for others, but saw another one today and then found a third on Ebay. So it's safe to say that a bunch of these cards got a stray red mark for some reason. Anyone else have one?

One of these days a collector is going to pull a ploy where they make some minor anomoly on a dozen T206s, hype it, and make money nefariously. (if it hasn't already happened). I always had an inkling I bought into one of these schemes once.
ps...to bring it back on topic I don't follow T206 anomolies to the extreme but this looks like it could be kind of a cool find.

I don't think a stray red mark on the border would add any value, I just thought it was cool looking since it was factory made. The fact that there are others out there means it must have happened quite often one day before anyone noticed, or whatever was causing the mark stopped making it.
Honestly, I would have bought the other two if I thought they were anything more than just interesting.

Hi John,
Thanks for posting these, most people automatically think the reason for posting these is for some kind of financial gain which on here is usually not the case. They rarely bring any kind of premium. What they might do is provide an of idea of how many verticals of each subject might be on a sheet for a particular back What I have found with most of these is they are usually found on one or two different backs with majority of the examples found on one back. It's usually in the 10% range. The Pastorius "B-" was about 10% Of the PD 150's and the Tenney "broken Y was about 10% Of the PD 350's. I see the Tannehill's Are an Old Mill and a Sweet Caporal 350 do you know the factory number on the SC and what the back on the third one you posted is? |

There are two L. Tannehill with the stray red mark on ebay right now. Both are SC 350/25. Old Mills are all factory 25 if my memory serves me right.

The L Tannehill SC back is one of the examples found with a large factory # 30 on the bottom. Possibly this is a middle sheet mark?
