Not sure if this was a previous thread, but what opinions do you guys have for storing old baseballs? I'm leaning towards ball cubes, would like some pros and cons for display cases please.
Thanks Dan |

I use the Ultra Pro UV ball cubes for all of my baseballs. They have a UV protection to stop fading, the cradle inside holds the ball perfectly so it doesn't move around which could cause logo's and signatures to rub off, and they stack easily.

There have been a couple of good threads on this topic before, so consider doing a search on net54. My personal choice is ball cubes and as little direct light as possible. For nicer balls, or older rare balls I recommend the product that I attached a picture of that Steiner produces. Nice looking and it has UV glass as the box shaped cover (not shown in this photo). Think minimal light, cool and dry to keep balls in good shape... I hope this helps! Last edited by Scott Garner; 10-25-2011 at 03:38 PM. |

Thanks Brandon and Scott...great info! Does anyone know if LED lighting has any more benefits than traditional lighting?(fluorescent or incandescent)

I'm not sure about LED, but flourescent is a no-no. I've always used incandescent, but not constant exposure to light. Direct sunlight exposure is the worst of all.

Doesn't matter if you use a cube, display case, etc, but it's best if it has or is made of UV glass. Also, I treat all light as equally bad and keep my baseballs in a room that I can control the light from completely dark to display quality lighting. I also try to make sure that the room has somewhat of a consistent temperature. Don't be afraid to enjoy looking at your baseballs, but a little caution and environment control when you're not enjoying them will go a long way.
