I'm not convinced cards 41-80 can be found in green or red. Would be interested in being proved wrong but even if they are, they are very rare.

Nice observation Judson...all of my red and green Batter-Ups are from #1-40. I have examples of all of the colors for #'s 41-80 except for red and green. Definitely makes it appear like the set, at least the first 80 cards, was issued in groups of 40.

Having looked through 500 Batter Ups on eBay, and the cards on the Old Cardboard image gallery, there are no green or red cards on either site numbered higher than 40. And, although not scientific, my experience has been that they are the two toughest colors for cards 1-40. Anyone else have any thoughts?

Checked my set and I have no reds or greens above No. 40. The Greenberg I thought was red is probably purple. I see a difference when I compare it to my red R318s. What's funny, though, is that held up to its own scan and to other purples on this thread, it looks like a different hue.
By the way, I have to agree with Orioles1954 that R318 (high numbers anyway) is underrated, at least in terms of ease in completion. It took me about 30 years to finish the set, though it wasn't at the top of my priorities.

To extrapolate on my previous comment, the higher number cards, which are noticeably shorter, would most likely have been issued in two 56 card groupings, which would account for the 112 additional cards (#'s 81 -192).

Perhaps the first two printings of 40 were 8 across and 5 down on a sheet, while, the second two printings could have been 8 across and 7 down on a sheet (with some of the extra room coming from the shorter heighth of the cards).
