Assuming you aren't being facetious the cards at bottom were put into the boxes. The cards are known as 1921-22 Schapira Big Show Candy cards and are very scarce. Brian V has a nice collection of them but I don't know too many folks with more than 1-2 otherwise. I have seen 1-2 of these boxes before...and believe there was one, with a Johnson card, in the last REA auction. As far as joining the circus goes that is what the side of the boxes say....take care (and my other one from the series) |

But definitely the creepiest looking kids' circus toy I've seen from that era. Hand that box to an 8 year old and see if the little fellow runs screaming from the big top... |

you can usually assume I don't know what I'm talking about. I am not familiar with that issue whatsoever. |

You didn't appear snotty at all. I just didn't know if you really knew about these or not. The boxes are kind of creepy, I guess. I have 4 built in display cases in my office at home. My office is basically a no entry zone for my wife and the exterminators......So this is how I display my display pieces..... |

Schapira also made larger candy boxes as this Pak-O-Joys shows. It has the cute novelty of making the eyes of the kid at top with the back flap of the opening, not unlike like the Big Show ones. And we can't forget the regular Schapira Bros Ruth (box) cards either....I have shown this box many times but we do have some new folks that might not have seen this Ruth box and it fits in this thread. It's interesting to note how Schapira really liked to use red, white and blue in their boxes. Very patriotic...I got this Ruth box from Frank Ward, several years ago, before the market took off...Thanks again Frank... regards |

but very cool. The animal ones especially look like something out of an old Fleischer cartoon or a Tim Burton movie; I half expect to hear Danny Elfman music when I look at them. |
