Colgan's gum not original

Careful gents, this is not the correct gum with this tin. The colgan's gum is round and flat just like the cardboard piece shown here. (p)

Dan...judging by the distance between the two round mold spots, It looks like your gum was face to face to a Honus Wagner Colgans Chip at one time. Maybe you can sell it to the guy in Cincinnati to accompany his rare T-206 Wagner...

Astute observation Mark. Believe it or not this gum belonged to my great grandmother and I found it among her stuff that's been packed away for probably 80+ years along with a large group of candy and gum....unfortunately there was no card to be found anywhere with the stuff...although I did find a neat Ornate pin, but it had an actress instead of a baseball player.

I think I see the image of Jesus in that Violet chip!!!

Yeah, but Matt the "gum" shown in the auction is kinda round....they look like Tic-Tacs to me.

I have some gum pieces as well...I always wondered if Violet and Mint chips are discernable by sight. Some of my Colgan's cards have Violet colored staining and/or toning. Since yours can be traced to their original owner, it is unlikely that the staining on my cards could be attributed to the gum (100 years might have had some effect on the gum however). My gum pieces look just like yours, black mold and all.
