Additional Help Needed on N162

I picked this up because the card looked to be in good condition:



I asked the seller if it was rebacked or trimmed and he did not think it was (but offered a refund if I find it to be).

Your thoughts?

Although far from an expert, if the scan is a good representation of the card, it exhibits a cut across the bottom which slants up toward the right. The left border is bowed, with the top being way more narrow than the bottom. And the right edge begins to slant inward just less than halfway up the card, resulting in the card top being way more narrow than the bottom.

I would be surprised if the card came from the factory like this. However, this does not change the fact that the card appears to be in good condition.

I believe that with OJs, angled cuts are not uncommon, but cuts in which the direction of the cut is changed, are not typically caused by a machine. Examples may include bowing such as on your card left, or the inward slant partway up the card, as shown on your right border. For comparison the slanted bottom cut is not necessarilly a negative sign.

Please correct my misunderstandings here, as appropriate, OJ experts.
I certainly have much to learn.

Jon--Really tough to tell from that image. It almost looks like a photo rather than a scan because of that three dimensional effect. Gun to my head I would say that it is not original but, like I say, tough to tell without looking at the card in person. I would just make sure that if you get it you have the right to return it if it is not original.

Ok OJ experts...sorry for the repeat questions but I'm hoping someone can help me. I received this OJ card in the mail today and I have to admit, I'm no OJ expert by far. I have a few other OJs for comparison but all are encapsulated. I can not tell whether this card is rebacked or not and I obviously would want to get a refund if the card is rebacked (which the seller has agreed to provide). I'd also be more than willing to send the card out to have it quickly looked at if that would be better.

Also, any idea what the mark on the back is? I thought possibly scrap book glue but there is no paperloss at all. If it is glue, how much would this hammer a grade? Can it be taken off?
