Vintage baseball cards may be our uniting force, but I know most of us have other interests. Let's see some of them that might make a member or two smile
![]() I always liked Paulino Uzcudun (The Basque woodchopper). He could have easily have been a contender in the post-Tunney era, except for one thing: He may have been the only fighter in history to tell Tex Rickard to take a hike. ![]() uz1.jpg uz2.jpg |

I used to have a killer collection of vintage Star Wars toys from my youth (no more) and also no-feet PEZ Dispensers. I still love both those collectibles but just not enough space and money to go around.

Just like those bamboo babies, down in the South Sea tropic zone,
'Tain't no sin to take off your skin, and dance around in your bones. Baseball cards and scantily clad South Sea Island babies, sixty years old going on fourteen.

That's an awesome title display. My entire family (myself, wife, 11 yr. old son and 4 yr. old daughter LOVE the Doctor!) David Tenant was our favorite but they're all great in their own way (I started with Jon Pertwee). FYI - the new Christmas episode airs in the US on Christmas night (how awesome is that!)

Barry, Jimmy, and Leon,
Thanks! For some reason no one ever turns down an invite for dinner at my house. ![]() And Barry, I find that if I take enough pictures, sooner or later I screw up and get a really good one! It also doesn't hurt that when photographing a plate on my granite countertop that it ends up looking like it is floating in space, as if the food was out of this world! David, I haven't been back to Hawaii since my honeymoon, but now for some reason I suddenly have an urge to go back! That is a pretty unique collection that you have there. I can't quite put my finger on it, but for some reason the Amish couple looks out of place. |

Besides cards, I collect a few oddball things. I've kept and added to my collection of Star Wars toys as a kid (don't have a pic of that stuff), but I always wished I kept my GI Joe toys. Last year when they re-released the toys in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the cartoon series, I was all over it, although I think pretty soon I'm going to let my son open them up and play with them, as modern toys and cartoons seem to be seriously lacking in testosterone ("Sponge Bob" and "Phineas and Ferb"? Gimme a break!)

Way off the beaten path, I collect radio and television broadcast tickets from the 1930s-1970s...that's the reason my screen name is "oldtix". I like the graphics and the fact that these tickets were once in the presence of the performers. Very few of the tickets were torn or defaced at entry, giving a very attractive way to visually remember the voices of the past.

I'm sure someone else here collected this stuff or still do. When I was a kid in the early 1970's in Miami, at my school, FAMOUS MONSTERS was the in thing. This issue was the most prized one, #1 from 1958. Couldn't afford it as a kid. Got it in 1998 and when I look at it, reminds me of my elementary school days.
Also big then was Wacky Packages. We stuck them all over the place. Anyone else on the Board, used to collect these?

pictures with advertisements and small thermometers that were merchant give-aways to their customers. Often, they had hang-down calendars as well. I especially like the patriotic ones. The one with George Washington is a favorite because the hanging calendar shows my birth month and year, November 1943!
