Default Seller got NARU'D - Now what should I do?

Posted By: Jantz

Thanks for any help in advance.

I just checked out Ebay & under a vintage card auction that I won last week, Ebay has the seller listed as "no longer a registered user" and all their past auctions has been removed including the auction that I won.

This is a first for me & I'm not sure what action I should take or could this just be a result of the seller not paying his/her fees?

Thanks,
Jantz

Jantz, would this seller happen to be Jason w/Vintage*Investments? He had dozens of auctions ending Thursday night. I was out of town Thursday and Friday, and when I checked ebay on Friday night I saw that I won 5 of his items. His ID is listed as "no longer a registered user". I can't pull up the auction pages for the items that I won. I emailed Jason on Saturday morning and I haven't received a response. I thought maybe Jason would have emailed me right after the auctions to let me know the total cost of the items with shipping, but I haven't heard anything.

I was going to let this go for a few days to see what happened, but when I saw your post I decided to respond. I wonder what happened with the dozens of other auctions that ended Thursday night. Why did he let these auctions run there course if he planned on leaving ebay?

Rick

Rick - Sorry, not the same seller. I may call the seller tomorrow since I found his phone number on the invoice & see if I can get some answers. I'm not out a lot of money, but still. The seller marked my payment received a few days ago & has left feedback, but this still has me scratching my head. He had good feedback too.

Hope your situation works out Rick.

Thanks,
Jantz

Hi Rick
I also won a card from Jason on Thursday and sent him an e-mail this evening. I haven't paid for it and guess I shouldn't unless he contacts me. I will let you know if I hear from him, I'd appreciate if you would let me know as well.

Best,

Scott

I'm in the same boat as you guys - curious what happened as feedback and all signs looked just fine.

I've had this happen to me several times.

In every instance is was a case of unpaid fees to ebay. It was generally taken care of within a week or so and I received my cards promptly as usual.

A simple email to the seller was enough to clear up the situation.

I have had it happen to me on several occassions. Like the previous post, every case was due to delinquent account payment. Every deal closed successfully. I think it is around this time of month that we see this happen.

Hi Dan,
I am not accusing Jason of ripping anyone off - I just want to know what is going on. Chances are that there is a simple explanation for this problem. You are correct about a simple email solving the problem, but shouldn't the email have come from Jason to his buyers, with an explanation? As far as calling out a "hobby veteran", it doesn't matter if the seller is a veteran or an FNG, the seller should keep the buyers informed.

Take care,
Rick

I am seller vintage*investments. Long story as anyone who would like to know can call me at 816-294-9847. I have not decided yet as if I want to be reinstated on ebay. This last month has been tough for I have received 5 unwarranted negatives from 3 users. I will however, honor the last auctions sold if you want them. If you do not, that is OK too.

This has nothing to do with account or anything payable. It has everything to do with recent issues with feedback and ebay's new policies.

I could go into details now, but I do not have time. I will try to write a post about it later. You may see alot of my extra stuff show up on the B/S/T threads here in the near future. Ebay has really pissed off a really good gold powerseller and I can see this issue could cause them alot of problems in the future with many more.

Jason

In jason's defense guys, if the auctions were removed from ebay then he can't see who won them and has no way of knowing who to contact in this situation, hence the lack of an email to the winners. I am going to guess that Jason is so upset with the new feedback system that he may have lost control and told ebay how he really felt. I did that once before myself years ago and received a temp suspension. You have to be careful with those adjectives. Dan.

Dan-

You hit the NAIL on the head! I received a phone call from my wife on Friday I think saying that ebay just called her and told her that they were going to remove feedback from someone and that we were under watchful eye and could be suspended in near future. I immediatley contacted powerseller through phone as well as ebay security and completely unloaded on them. When I got to a computer about 15 minutes later both my account and my wife's accounts were suspended. There was more said on the phone but I need a colling off period beofre I go into it. Ebay is really killing themselves by pissing off good sellers. I am going to find an alternative means for now to buy, sell, or trade my cards. I do not use ebay for a living so I do not really care, but I really feel it for the folks that do! You are absolutely correct in the fact I cannot contact previous recent buyers due to the fact I cannot access anything. Bitter sweet relief!

Jason

Well at least there is a rationale reason for all this and in a word it's -"ebay"

I guess we know why the auction houses will be around for a while and ebay will not take away too much business from them.

I thought as much Jason and though you got the temp suspension, you must admit that you felt good after blasting them! I know I did years ago. Dan.

I sure did! I may start working on an alternative site for just baseball cards. If I could offer a similar service who would be interested?

Jason; I am sorry to hear about what happenned to you. You are absolutely correct, when you say Ebay is pissing off a lot of good sellers. I think we all are sitting on pins and needles waiting for the axe to fall on us. It only takes one or two negs now in a month to completely ruin a seller and have his/her Paypal account frozen. It does not matter if you were at 100% will all 5 stars the previous month. With all the buyers out there now bombing sellers with unwarranted negs, we are all sitting ducks. I am also looking for an alternative outlet, just can not find one I like.

I think some of you guys are making a big deal over nothing.

My concern would be for the people that won auctions and now have no idea what is going on.

Getting a few negs in this day and age of ebay means nothing as long as you are a decent seller.

Most buyers will read right through these negatives.

To get NARU'd while having auctions ending is not what I'd like to have happen to me.

Steve
