Many collectors (as well as dealers and investors)
experience the same recurring dream. Wondering into an isolated
antique shop or passing by a remote garage sale, one finds
a small group of "old baseball cards."

For argument's sake lets assume that the "find" is not
T206s or 33 Goudeys but a far more obscure set.

We wondered what were the chances that "the find" would
result in an ultra high grade example (defined as 7+ NQ
for this exercise).

We looked at eight reasonably difficult, but not impossible,
sets and here is what we found

Clearly the "odds" against find a raw card that will obtain a very high
grade run somewhere between slim and none...but everyone once in
a great while...luck is on your side.

Well if we (myself and my Bond-like girlfriend) found E107's and E94's in VG shape and lets say found about 150 E107's and 40 E94's we'd be thrilled, keep the players I like and then sell the rest and jet off to some secluded beach.........Oh James

What is more likely finding those issues in PSA 7, or above grade? Or "We" in the original post actually representing a group rather than an individual?

Bruce,if I may quote a Sir William Cosby of Penn as he spoketh upon his own creations during an act of Albert The Fat

Me thinks his quip is still very appropriate when referring upon one who claims to be more than one.



To answer the actual question now if I'm actually reading it correctly,I think you don't have a good chance of just finding raw high grade stuff at shows because people who sell there know high grade cards get more when they're graded,but i also think theres a ton of high grade cards that wont see the light of day or touch a graders hand anytime soon because the current owners have no interest in selling. Supposedly theres still a large group of collectors that couldn't find this vintage board on their best day because they're computer illiterate or just don't own one.
