Um, I would say the grade "Good" is something of a misrepresentation, no? I mean, the scan is posted, but still...

Leon,

AGREED!!!!

A little over 10 years ago, when my Mentor still lived in the area, we went to a large show out of state. The two things I remember from that show is he introduced me to Bill Mastro and he told me to stay FAR AWAY from Broadway Rick because he was KNOWN for selling trimmed or otherwise altered cards.

"Good" is a relative term, I suppose. The card retains the molecular characteristics of a solid and is not, at least in the picture, on fire, so Mr. B'way gets a pass here. However, if they claimed the card "presents well" . . .

Next week, I plan to start selling most of my beater collection on eBay. Using his grading scale, I may come out of this much better than I imagined!

Actually beaters do remarkably well on eBay, so well that I seldom buy from that venue anymore.

I humbly offer my deepest apologies, Denny. Sometimes I can be so thoughtless! However, am confident that B'way -rick can offer many more "vintage beauties" of equal or even lesser "grade".

That rare instance where the shipping charges are higher than the value of the item perhaps. My one experience with BRSZ was @ the Atlanta National. A friend of mine who used to own a shop in Atlanta was set up. He had a Clemente Rookie in his case and BR was looking at it. He asked if he could take it to his table and examine it with a loupe. My friend responded that he was more than welcome to bring his loupe back and examine the card there. Rick replied, "Don't you know who I am? I'm Broadway Rick. To which my friend replied, "I'm Peachtree Dale and you're not taking the card to your table." Priceless.

''In a phone interview with MSNBC.com, Broadway Rick’s owner Richard Kohl acknowledged that he improperly bid the cards up using an account that he originally created for a friend, but said he did so only to avoid taking a financial hit on the item.''
